What is Renaissance?
Renaissance is a service designed to overcome the time-consuming and expensive process of manually converting legacy data into industry-standard file formats.

What is 'legacy data'?
'Legacy data' is a term that usually strikes fear into the heart of any knowledgeable IT Manager. It applies to files belonging to older software applications that, in general, use file formats which cannot easily be utilised in modern software suites.

Which legacy data types can be converted?
The Renaissance service can convert files and data from OfficePower and Uniplex systems, though other conversions are continually being developed. Please contact Envision Technologies for the latest information on these developments.

What about my long UNIX file names?
If required, Renaissance can automatically rename your files to conform to the DOS 8.3 standard and will produce a log file to let you know the new names of all files converted. Alternatively, filenames can be preserved in their long format for storage under Microsoft Windows NT or Novell NetWare.

How do I use the Renaissance service?
There are two ways of converting your data using our Renaissance service.
The usual method is via the bureau service, where you send us a tape containing all your files and directory structures to be converted. We will convert them into the file formats you require and return them back to you on the media of your choice.
Alternatively, the Renaissance software may be installed on your own UNIX server to facilitate in-house conversions. This may be required, for example, where large volumes of data preclude the use of tapes, or where, for security reasons, the files to be converted cannot leave your site.
